NSA | Rock Climbing in East London

NSA | New South Africa

NSA is the main rock climbing area in East London. There are 79 routes; 61 bolted routes, 18 trad lines & 10 boulder problems. NSA has flat base & is really close to East London. All the projects are opened now & there is very little scope for new lines. Rock is vertical mud/silt stone, is normally smooth & often covered in a white fungus.

Shaded from 10H00 in summer & all day shade in winter. NSA is a good crag all year round. Fairly sheltered from the wind & dries fairly quickly. 350m or 5 minutes of flat walk-in.

NSA emerged at a time when climbing in East London was undeveloped.

NSA has seen its fair share of well known climber visitors. Greg Childs, Keith James, Ed February, Paul Brouard, & even Adam Ondra.

NSA is on the edge of privately owned land, accessed via municipal land. No restrictions.
